OXFORD - Jeannette B. (Gibson) Rosebrooks, 93, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl O. Rosebrooks of Oxford who died in1968. She is survived by two sons, Nathan B. Rosebrooks and his wife Ann of North Grosvenordale, CT, and Wayne A. Rosebrooks of Webster; three grandchildren, Earl W. Rosebrooks and his fiancée Kimberly Bennett of North Grosvenordale, CT, April-May Mosher and her husband Richard of Webster, and Sarah Ann Papa and her husband Joe of Johnston, RI; two great grandchildren, Lauren Papa and Derek Papa, both of Johnston, RI; her brother-in-law, David Chaffee of Webster; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sister, Hope Chaffee who died in 1995; and her daughter-in-law Laura-Lee Rosebrooks. She was born in Oxford, the daughter of the late Robert and Ula (Skelton) Gibson, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1935. Mrs. Rosebrooks was a bookkeeper and secretary at the former Krintzman Dusting Mill in North Oxford for 28 years, retiring in 1990. Previously, she worked for Chaffee Brothers, the telephone company, and the post office. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford, and volunteered her time working in the office for many years. She enjoyed singing, and was a member of the church choir as well as the chorus at Christopher Heights in Webster. Mrs. Rosebrooks was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Oxford, the Huguenot Society, and the Sutton Grange. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing scrabble. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the First Congregational Church, 355 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at West Sutton Cemetery in Sutton. After the burial, there will be a collation in the First Congregational Church hall. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 16, 2011, from 6-9 p.m. at the Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
