Janet Mahota

OXFORD – Janet L. (Cunningham) Mahota, 78, of June St., died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Webster Manor Nursing Home in Webster. She is survived by four children, Patricia A. Tonken and her husband Steven of Webster, Kenneth D. Mahota and his wife Linda of Oxford, Nancy A. Hubert and her husband William of Oxford, and Joanne M. Cyr and her husband Douglas of California; two sisters, Evelyn Auger and Pauline Frazier, both of Oxford; her daughter-in-law Patricia Mahota of Oxford; six grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Herbert C. Mahota Jr. of Worcester, who died in 2003. She was born in Oxford, the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Florence (Cazeault) Cunningham, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1947. Mrs. Mahota was a switchboard operator at State Mutual Company (currently Hanover Insurance Group) in Worcester for 15 years, retiring in 1994. Previously, was an assistant cook in the cafeteria at Oxford High School for many years. She was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and was part of the former "Silver Bells" in Oxford. Mrs. Mahota loved to dance, especially line dancing. She enjoyed crafts, was an accomplished seamstress, and was a devoted and caring mother to her five children. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 12 noon at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, May 25, 2007, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
