Janet Allen

DUDLEY - Janet F. (Fitzgerald) Allen, 67, of Henry Marsh Road, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bruce L. Allen of Dudley; two children, Robin L. Riel and her husband Skip of Dudley, and Gary B. Allen and his wife Lorinda of Charlton; her sister, Doris Hayes of Waterbury, CT; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Allen of Upton; her sister-in-law, Melva Allen of Upton; and six grandchildren, Nathan, Courtney, Kayla, and Andrew Riel, and Sara and Patrick Allen. She was born in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Harold and Eleanor (Vredenburgh) Fitzgerald, and lived most of her life in Westboro before moving to Dudley in 2003. She graduated from Wilby High School in Waterbury, CT, in 1959, and Berkshire Christian College in Lenox, MA. Mrs. Allen was presently employed as a quality specialist at Areva in Marlboro, where she had worked for the last 33 years. She was a member of Liberty Church in Shrewsbury. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Liberty Church, 495 Hartford Turnpike, Shrewsbury. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
