James J. Veronick

SUTTON – James J. Veronick, 84, of Central Turnpike, sadly passed away at home on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years, Claire M. (Benoit) Veronick who died in 1998; and his second wife of 3 years, Kathleen A. Veronick-Demars who died in 2009. He is survived by three children, James J. Veronick Jr. of Webster, Joseph J. Veronick of Dudley, and Christaine Russell of Webster; five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Herbert “Zeke” Millette; his stepmother, Pauline (Zurlis) Veronick; and his sister, Jean Corriveau.

He was born in Webster, son of the late John J. Veronick and Cecelia J. (Smolenski) Millette, and lived in Oxford and Webster for many years before moving to Sutton in 1988. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1959.

Mr. Veronick worked for D&W Autobody in Dudley for 38 years, until the company closed. In addition, he worked for View Point Sign and Awning for 24 years. Throughout his life he was a car enthusiast and enjoyed ice racing, building walls, and going to yard sales. He was a loving, caring, and fun husband, father, and grandfather, who was a friend to many. Thank you for touching our lives with all that you were, leaving us with the greatest pleasure of having known you. You will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude of all the wonderful caregivers who helped Jim during his illness. In addition, the family would like to thank the staff at Preferred Transitions and the Jewish Healthcare Center, for their exceptional care.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, March 31, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Worcester, Department 4030, PO Box 986500, Boston, MA 02298-6500.
