NORTH OXFORD – James H. Moore, 78, formerly of North Oxford, died Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Quaboag Rehabilitation Center in West Brookfield, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his sister, Carol I. Calvert and her husband Richard of Collegeville, PA; several nieces and nephews, Barbara, Paul, Deborah, Catherine, Linda, Carol, Alan, Susan, Joel, Jennifer, Amy, Michael, and Christine. He also leaves his close friends of many years, Robert and Denise Morgan of West Brookfield. He was predeceased by six siblings, Donald H. Moore, Jonathan S. Moore, David W. Moore, Alan B. Moore, Joel E. Moore, and Winifred I. Moore; three nephews, Stanley R. Moore, William R. Johnson, and David L. Moore; and a niece, Sandra B. Johnson.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Herbert S. Moore and Flora L. (Baier) Whittier. James grew up in West Sutton, graduating from Sutton High School in 1964, bought a house in North Oxford where he lived for more than 40 years, before recently moving to West Brookfield.
James worked for Parker Manufacturing in Worcester for 19 years, Cole Hersee in Boston for 18 years and owned his own business selling and installing Hunter equipment for 10 years before moving onto retirement. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, taking trips to the casino, and tracing his family genealogy. He was known as the family historian. James loved getting together with the guys for a game of golf or meeting up at the lanes. James belonged to several bowling leagues and also participated in many NEBA Tournaments. He achieved many accomplishments in bowling including several 298, 299, 300 games as well as many 800 series games.
The family would like to thank Quaboag Rehabilitation, as well as Brookhaven Hospice, for the care that James received while under their services.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at West Sutton Cemetery in Sutton. A calling hour will be held on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
