OXFORD – James M. McGrath, 75, died Friday, February 26, 2021, at St. Francis Nursing Center in Worcester. He is survived by two brothers, Ronald J. McGrath and his partner Carol Stenman of Auburn and David J. McGrath of Oxford; his cousin and caregiver, Thomas M. LaJoie of Woodstock, CT; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis L. McGrath Jr. and Kenneth J. McGrath. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Francis L. and Irene M. (LaBrie) McGrath Sr., and lived most of his life in Oxford. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1963, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. McGrath was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Oxford for 30 years. He enjoyed bird hunting, birdwatching, and loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Memorial calling hours are Friday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame Hospice, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605.
