CHARLTON - James A. Guinee, Jr., 79, of Fitzgerald Road, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, in his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years. Linda L. (Holmes) Guinee of Charlton; five children, Laurie J. Jodoin and her husband Matthew of Oxford, Tina L. Shedd and her husband Roger of North Brookfield, Debra L. O'Neill of North Brookfield, June A. Bishop of Ware, and James A. Guinee III of Worcester; two sisters, June A. Mosher and her husband Richard of Sturbridge and Dorothy Blake and her husband Stephen of Alstead, NH; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Teresa Lynn Guinee; and a granddaughter, Heather Bishop. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late James A. Guinee Sr. and Evelyn J. (Comptois) Snow, and lived in Worcester and Millbury before moving to Charlton in 1981. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Guinee was a truck driver for Consolidated Beverages for 35 years, retiring several years ago. Previously, he was a driver for Polar Ginger Ale. He was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church. Mr. Guinee was a 25-year member of the Oxford Lodge of Masons A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Doric Chapter of the Royal Arch in Southbridge. He was a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star - Clara Barton Chapter 63 in Oxford, and a member of the Oxford Assembly 89, I.O.R.G. advisory board. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 170, and enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 30, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday during the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104, or to the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
