OXFORD – Henry W. Mellen Jr., 79, of Orchard Hill Drive, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Agnes (Lajeunesse) Mellen of Oxford; seven children, Rosemary Powers of Oregon, Linda Stevens of Sutton, Henry Vincent of Webster, Thomas Vincent of Worcester, David Vincent of Worcester, Richard Dube of Florida, and David Dube; a brother, Edward Mellen of Worcester; a sister, Theresa Dipalito of Worcester; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Mellen of Millbury; and a sister, Carol Breault of Southbridge. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Henry W. and Bertha B. (Beliveau) Mellen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Mellen was a machinist at Olson Manufacturing in Holden for over 40 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion and was a former volunteer for the Harrington Memorial Hospital Hats for Newborns. He was a member and former usher at St. Roch's Church in Oxford. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2008, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Sunday, February 24, 2008, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
