Heather Griffin

February 20, 1943 — August 30, 2011

OXFORD - Heather A. (Macdonald) Griffin, 68, of Marshall Street, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Joseph P. Griffin who died in 2006. She is survived by two children, Keith R. Griffin of Oxford and Deborah L. Griffin of Medford; a brother, Bruce G. Macdonald of Worcester; a sister, D. Lyn Stevens of Spencer; and several nephews and nieces. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Angus R. and Williamina (Inglis) Macdonald, and lived in Canada and Leicester before moving to Oxford in 1984. She graduated from Leicester High School in 1962. She later attended the New England Deaconess Hospital School of Surgical Technology in Boston and the David Hale Fanning School of Practical Nursing in Worcester. Mrs. Griffin worked as a surgical technologist at Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Before retiring in 2007, Heather was a licensed practical nurse at Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Webster for 15 years. She was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She enjoyed reading and vacationing with her family. A memorial calling hour will be Friday, September 9, 2011, from 10-11 a.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
