NORTH OXFORD Grace M. (Cerullo) Flynn, 77, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John I. "Jack" Flynn of North Oxford; five children, John Flynn and his wife Angelica of Charlottesville, VA, Mark Flynn and his wife Kristine of Akron, NY, Stephen Flynn of Oakland, TN, Joseph Flynn and his wife Julie of Sutton, and Christine Golub and her husband Steven of Smithtown, NY; a brother, Aaron Richard Cerullo and his wife Frances of Westwood; seven grandchildren, Callen, Brenna, and Merris Flynn, Alexa and Olivia Flynn, Andrew and Michael Golub; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son, Francis "Frank" E. Flynn, who died in 2012; six brothers, Carmine, Vincent, Eugene, Anthony, Donald, and David Cerullo; and three sisters, Louise Conley, Anna Lucas, and Etta Carney. She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Eugenio and Rose (Prisco) Cerullo, and lived in Boston and Framingham before moving to North Oxford in 1964. Mrs. Flynn worked at Worcester State University for 20 years, retiring in 1998. Previously, she worked at the Woodward School and A.M. Chaffee School, both in Oxford. In her younger years, she worked at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Mrs. Flynn was a dedicated member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. She was the former secretary at the church, and served on many committees over the years, including serving as president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Mrs. Flynn was the first woman recipient of the Knights of Columbus "Citizen of the Year" award in 1981. In 2009, she was inducted into the Worcester State College Hall of Fame and also received the Oxford Lions Club Volunteer Appreciation Award. She served as president of the Friends of the Oxford Free Public Library for 12 years, and was honored to have a bench dedicated to her in a ceremony at the library this past July. In 2013, she received the Town of Oxford Community Service Award. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, August 16, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
