Gordon Peters

December 21, 1927 — June 19, 2017

THOMPSON, CT – Gordon P. Peters, 89, of Oakwood Drive, died June 19, 2017, at the Transitional Care Unit at Hubbard in Webster. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Doris (Walker) Peters, who died in 1994. He is survived by two brothers, Robert Peters and Roy Peters, both of Douglas; three sisters, Virginia Suarez of Webster, Marie Lamontagne of Douglas, and Mary Tetreault of Southbridge; many nephews and nieces; and his cat and favorite companion, Little Girl. He was predeceased by three brothers, his twin brother Norman Peters, Warner Peters, and Henry Peters. He was born in Douglas, son of the late Percy and Nancy (Casey) Peters, and lived in Oxford before moving to Thompson in 1964. He was veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Peters worked for Henley and Lundgren in Shrewsbury for 34 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida for 25 years during his retirement. He will be missed by his close friends, Phil Bedard, Paul O’Rielly, and Louis Esposito.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff and physical therapy staff at the T.C.U. at Webster, for their exceptional care during Gordon’s time with them.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the T.C.U. at Webster, 340 Thompson Rd., Webster, MA 01570.
