Gordon Cranska

WEBSTER/INVERNESS, FL - Gordon D. Cranska, 72, formerly of Webster, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence in Worcester with his daughter by his side. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle A. Cranska of Webster; two brothers, Harold J. Cranska Jr. of Maryland and Stephen F. Cranska of Montana; and three nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jeannine E. Cranska who died in 1991; and his sister, Nancy C. Stevenson who died in 2009. He was born in Webster, the son of the late Harold J. and Lumina "Polly" E. (Vielle) Cranska, and lived in Douglas and Webster before moving to Florida in 2002. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1959. Gordon was a truck driver for U.S.F. Red Star for 37 years, retiring in 2002, and a member of the Teamsters Local 25. He was most proud of receiving the Certificate of Merit in recognition of his superior driving skills, having completed 37 years and 5 million miles of safe and accident-free driving. Gordon loved fast cars, motorcycles, and boats, was a sports car enthusiast, and spent many carefree hours riding his Harley. Gordon enjoyed living on the Douglas Reservoir, Webster Lake, and in his beautiful Florida home. He will be remembered for the lasting friendships he made throughout his life. Gordon was a loving father and a good friend to everyone whom he met. Gordy, as he was known to many, loved to make people laugh and truly lived his life to the fullest. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal charity of one's choice.
