Goldena Beals

OXFORD -- Goldena (Hawksley) Beals went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 13, 2014. Born in Mars Hill, Maine, on April 7, 1918, Dena (as she liked to be called), moved to Oxford in 1936 with her parents, Guy and Laura (Blackden) Hawksley. Except for a few years on their farm in Brookfield, Dena has lived in Oxford most of her life. Dena was a member of the North Oxford Baptist Church and also attended Crosspoint Christian Church in Oxford. Dena was an honorary member of the Helping Hand Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cake decorating for family and friends. Dena was predeceased by her parents, her husband Eugene who passed in 2002, and her daughter, Joy Green who passed in 2010. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Leroy (Bud) and Burleigh Hawksley. Dena is survived by her children, a daughter Gail of Virginia, a son Russ and his wife Pauline of Florida, a son Dale and his wife Rosalie of Dudley, and a son Earl and his wife Gwen of Oxford. Dena has 20 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren. There will be private graveside services with no funeral or calling hours. In lieu of flowers you are asked to make donations to Crosspoint Christian Church, 155 Leicester St., North Oxford, MA 01537, and the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 577, North Oxford, MA 01537. Burial will be in North Cemetery in Oxford. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
