Gladys Curtis

OXFORD – Gladys R. (Thompson) Curtis, 85, of Pine Street, died Monday, August 21, 2017, after a short illness, surrounded by her family, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. Her husband of 32 years, Roy A. Curtis, died in 1985. She leaves her daughter Linda Nash, and her husband, Richard, of Princeton; her son Chester Curtis and his wife Natalie Lombardy, of Berlin; her son Brian Curtis and his wife Elaine of Pelham, NH; her daughter Pamela Welsh, her husband Mark and their children, Nicholas and Julianne, of Oxford; her long time companion Reverend Guy Judkins, of Southbridge; her sister Winifred Lucey, of Phoenix, AZ; and her beloved dog Evie. She was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Marcy and Joyce Thompson; six brothers, Stanley Thompson, Earl Thompson, Roger Thompson, Howard Thompson, Chester Thompson and Warren Thompson.

Gladys was born on July 10, 1932, in Southbridge, the daughter of Ralph and Grace (Barlow) Thompson, and lived in Oxford for most of her life. She graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in 1950. Gladys worked at Barnard's in Worcester and then New England Telephone Company, in Worcester, until her marriage in 1953. She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church in Southbridge. Gladys enjoyed singing, gardening, crocheting, playing piano and water color painting. Her favorite memories included summers at the family camp at Little Alum Pond in Brimfield, MA.

Her funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
