Gertrude Stake

Oxford - Gertrude M. (Hickson) Stake, 74, of Oxford, died on Friday, May 24th in the Worcester Rehabilitation Center. Trudy is survived by her three daughters, Maureen E. Stake of Millbury, Linda S. Koneczny of North Grosvenordale, CT and Kristen M. Stake of Portland, ME; her ex-husband William Stake of Douglas, MA; a brother, Louis Hickson of Oxford; a sister in law, Deborah Hickson of Oxford; four grandchildren, Joshua, Simon, Cole and Grace; an uncle, Francis Mallard of Somerville, MA; an aunt, Claire Routher of Billerica, MA; a dear friend, Beverly White; her godson, Robert White as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was born in Medford, MA daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Mallard) Hickson and is also predeceased by two brothers, Richard and William Hickson. Trudy had a contagious laugh, sharp wit, and her family defined her life. Dedicated to helping others, she was an active member of Saint Roch's Church in Oxford, volunteered for the Girl Scouts for over 30 years, and was an Associate of the Sisters of Saint Anne in Marlboro. She worked as a bookkeeper at Guardian Photo and Airline Lewis, and finally for many years at Butler Fuel in Oxford, retiring in 2006. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and baking. Above all else, she was a keystone in her family, and will be dearly missed. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 28th from the Paradis-Givner Funeral Home 357 Main St. Oxford, with a Mass at 11 AM in Saint Roch's Church 334 Main St. Oxford with burial to follow in St. Roch's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 27th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
