DUDLEY – Gerald A. Hennequin, 80, of Sunrise Shore East, died Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean A. (Dykstra) Hennequin; three children, Cheri A. Van Gervan of Oxford, Lynn A. Benoit and her husband Scott of Dudley, and Greg A. Hennequin and his wife Allison of Dudley; a brother, James Hennequin of Maine; a sister, Joan Hardy of Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren, Brittany, Victoria, Bryan, Hadley, Allison, and Gavin; and a great-granddaughter, McKenzie. He was predeceased by two children, Robert Hennequin who died in 1997, and Lorie Hennequin who died in 2018; and a granddaughter, Sarah Benoit who died in 2003. He was born in Willimantic, CT, son of the late Lucien and Helen (Field) Hennequin, and lived in Columbia, CT, before moving to Dudley 52 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed at West Point.
Mr. Hennequin was a truck driver for Wajer’s Express in Dudley for 38 years, retiring in 1996. During retirement, he worked at NAPA Auto Parts in Southbridge and delivered car parts for Prime Ford. He was a simple man who loved being outside cutting wood. He enjoyed fishing camping, and Country & Western dancing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Waldron Cemetery in Dudley. Calling hours are Monday, October 24, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
