WORCESTER/OXFORD – George R. Scott, Sr., 86, died peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Marie “Bea” (Plasse) Scott of Worcester, who died in 1989. He is survived by six children, Marion M. Lemay and her husband Edward of Oxford, Patrice Scott and her fiancé Ron Brousseau of Southbridge, Kathleen Scott of Hollywood, FL, Susanne Benoit and her husband Gary of North Oxford, George Scott Jr. and his wife Robin of Paxton, and Aaron Scott of Oxford; two brothers, Paul Scott and his wife Kathy of Auburn, and Joseph Scott and his wife Bonnie of Spencer; his sister, Barbara Cammuso of Shrewsbury; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Sammy and Jaxon. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Scott; two sisters, Marion Scott and Winifred Scott; and a granddaughter, Marie B. Scott. He was born in Worcester, son of the late George V. and Winifred P. (Early) Scott, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford seven years ago. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1953.
Mr. Scott worked at General Motors Corporation in Framingham for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked at L. Farber Co. in Worcester, drove a mail truck for James Early Mail Truck Service, and delivered bagels and doughnuts for N&J Donuts in Oxford. He was a member of the Exotic Bird Club in Oxford and raised 30 parrots throughout his life. He was a member of the N.R.A. and was a fan of the Patriots and Red Sox. Mr. Scott enjoyed playing Yahtzee, rollerblading, country music, and loved his Cadillacs. He was an accomplished photographer, belonged to a local photography club, and had a dark room for developing in his home. Most of all he loved going to the casino with his sister, Winnie.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are Monday, July 11, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
