OXFORD – Gay A. (Marcelonis) Thomas, 75, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 20, 2022. She is survived by two children, Charles W. Thomas of Oxford, and Heidi G. Worster and her husband John of Oxford; her grandson, Benjamin J. Thomas of Oxford; her sister-in-law, Gloria Marcelonis of North Oxford; four nieces and nephews, Gay Larkin, William Marcelonis, Wendy Chase, and Michael Marcelonis; many great nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Millie Surrette. She was predeceased by her brother, William C. Marcelonis; and her former husband, Leroy Thomas Jr. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles W. and Rita J. (Rheaume) Marcelonis, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1964.
Ms. Thomas worked in the trucking industry throughout her life, moving equipment internationally for trade show exhibits for over 40 years. She was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford and led the Sunshine Ministry at the church. She enjoyed visits to Cape Cod, and she was an avid Red Sox fan. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and nana, and her greatest pride and joy in life was her family.
A funeral will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537.
