OXFORD – Frederick L. Schaffer, 71, of Depot Road, died Saturday, August 31, 2024, in his home after a long illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Donna M. (Rainville) Schaffer of Oxford, who died in 2019. He is survived by three children, Laura L. Mrad of Oxford, Richard R. Schaffer of Florida, and Phillip L. Schaffer of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Channing Schaffer, Catherine Schaffer, and Raymond Schaffer; a great-granddaughter, Charlee Schaffer; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Brenda Collins and Marie Mulrain.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Frederick L. and Edna (Nideur) Schaffer, and lived in Oxford for 47 years. He received an associate degree from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester.
Mr. Schaffer was a campus police officer at Assumption University in Worcester for 33 years, retiring in 2015. He was a New England sports fan and coached Senior League and American Legion Baseball in Oxford. He loved playing poker and video games with his friends and family.
