Franklyn Jones

OXFORD - Franklyn J. Jones, 66, of Shady Lane, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, in his home after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia E. (Griffin) Jones of Oxford; five children, Garrett E. Jones and his wife Christy, Ryan A. Jones, Patrick J. Jones, Maureen E. Jones, and Lyndsay P. Jones, all of Oxford; six grandsons, Gavin, Branden, Gage, Nathan, Jacob, and Stephen; and several nephews and nieces, including Ian Griffin of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Franklyn J. and Nelcia (Kasulis) Jones, and lived most of his life in Oxford. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Jones was a police officer with the Oxford Police Department for 11 years, retiring in 1986. He was an avid pool player and traveled throughout the country playing in the Law Enforcement Olympics. He enjoyed drag racing at New England Dragway in Epping, NH, and went undefeated in their first season. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, April 21, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Mass. Hospice, 191 Pakachoag St., Auburn, MA 01501.
