OXFORD – Franklin Samuel Severance, 63, of Huguenot Road, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in his home. He died peacefully, loved, and as he would say, without “Old Timer’s Disease.”
He is survived by three children, Kaleb R. Severance of Millbury, Leah M. Severance of Sterling, and Simon Franklin Severance of Oxford; five brothers, Matthew Severance of Manchester, NH, Benjamin Severance of Maryland, Roy Watson of Jaffrey, NH, Leroy Sturdevant of Manchester, NH, and Andrew Partin of New Hampshire; four sisters, Nancy Severance of Martinsville, VA, Claudia Lunderville of Springvale, ME, Ida Harmon of Manchester, NH, and Judith Rollins of Bennington, VT; nine grandchildren, Hunter, Samuel, Brooke, Colton, Mayllyn, Jonathan, Liam, Jacob, and Dominic; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jessica Lunderville and Amy Tyack.
He was born in Unalakleet, Alaska, son of the late Franklin Ambrose (Severance) Partin and Beatrice Jane (Otton) Watson, and lived in Oxford for 2 years. He claimed to have graduated from the School of Hard Knocks. He proudly served as a Cannon Crewmember in the Army National Guard in New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Franklin was a national traveler who visited each state at least twice, connoisseur, and jack-of-all trades. He belonged to local Christian churches wherever he lived. He was proud of his Eskimo heritage. He was raised in Alaska in his childhood years in a traditional Eskimo lifestyle and was a member of the Native Village of Unalakleet.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, archer, shooter, and forager, who could identify plants and berries in the forest. He enjoyed gardening, canning, splitting firewood, and woodworking. He was an inventor and tinkerer who built many items throughout his life, including his own kayak. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending their sports and music events.
Frank loved the Lord. He was brought back to value his Christian faith along with his family, both of which he held dear until the Lord called him home.
