OXFORD – Frances Helen (Irish) Worthington, 93, of Prince Street, died on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Arthur D. Worthington of Oxford, who died in 2009. She is survived by three children, Kathleen Vanderhoof and her husband Frank of Oxford, Janet Howard and her husband Gary of Oxford, and Eric Worthington and his wife Barbara of Attleboro Falls; six grandchildren, Charles Howard and his wife Lesley, Kimberly Macharia and her husband David, Joel Worthington, Michael Worthington and his wife Nicole, Neal Worthington, and Joy Worthington; and three great-grandchildren, Malachi Vanderhoof, William Howard, and Richard Howard. She was predeceased by a grandson, Stephen Worthington; a sister, Mary Irish; and a brother, George Grover Irish, Jr.. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late George Grover and Grace Marjorie (Burnham) Irish, Sr. She graduated from Rockville High School in Rockville, CT, in 1948.
Mrs. Worthington was an accountant for Talcott, Gould, and Cosgrove, which later became Cosgrove and Blatt, for over 10 years prior to retirement. Previously, she worked at the Oxford Town Hall, in the town clerk’s office for Pansy Kennedy and in the treasurer’s office for Bea Rodier. She was an active member of High Pointe Church in Thompson, CT, and she enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and was beloved by all who knew her.
Services are private. Please omit flowers and donations, and instead perform an act of kindness for someone in her memory.
