Florence Nelson

OXFORD – Florence May (Brownell) Nelson, formerly of Quobaug Avenue, died Saturday, January 6, 2018, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Karl G. Nelson who died in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Ann Lomas and her husband Richard of Southboro; her sister, Alice T. Hannon of Auburn; her granddaughter, Melanie Bianchi and her husband David of Northboro; her great-grandson, Tony K. Bianchi; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, George J. Brownell; and a sister, Dorothy Gleniecki. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Lester R. and Katherine T. (Horlbogen) Brownell, and lived in Worcester for 30 years before moving to Oxford.

Mrs. Nelson worked for the Greeting Card Company in Webster for 17 years. She was a former member of the Chestnut Street Congregational Church and a member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford. She enjoyed quilting and line dancing.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the First Congregational Church, 355 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 585, Oxford, MA 01540. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
