OXFORD – Eva M. (Gage) Porter, 86, of Howarth Road, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Webster Manor. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Norman S. Porter of Oxford, who died in 2008. She is survived by three daughters, Verna L. Freeman of Oxford, Glenda M. Hatch and her fiancé Michael Mazzilli of Millbury, and Keri J. Porter of Millbury; her sister, Eleanor G. Monroe of FL; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Norman S. Porter, Jr.; a grandson, Norman S. Porter III; two brothers, Russell F. Gage and Merton E. “Bud” Gage; and two sisters, Dorothy L. Boucher and Joan M. Gage. She was born in Oxford, daughter of the late Clarence P. and Estella L. (Bennett) Porter, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1948.
Mrs. Porter worked at Iandoli’s Market and Shaw’s Supermarket for 20 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping with her husband at the beach.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at North Cemetery, Main St., Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
