OXFORD - Ernest A. Lavoie, 58, died suddenly on Thursday, October 4, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna (Gagne) Lavoie; two daughters, Regina S. Lawrence and her husband Jeremy of Leominster, and Veronica M. Lavoie of Oxford; a brother, Raymond Lavoie of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Lucy Redfern of Knoxville, TN, and Doris Wilson of Greenville, RI; several nephews, nieces, and many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Lavoie. Ernie was born in Ludlow, the son of the late Lucien and Clarice Lavoie, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford 17 years ago. He graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham in 1972, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Ernie worked for the Town of Oxford Department of Public Works for the past 5 years. Previously, he worked for the Laidlaw School Company, Seven Hills Foundation, Worcester State Hospital, and he drove for Big Daddy Limousine in Oxford. In addition, he helped his wife delivering the Telegram and Gazette every Sunday. Ernie was a former member and Eucharistic minister at St. Roch's Church in Oxford. He was a member of the Father Dennis J. Rocheford Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford and was a 4th degree knight in the John Cardinal Wright Assembly. Ernie participated in the Girl Scouts in Oxford with his daughters. He was a soccer coach in Oxford and worked in the concession stand for the Webster cheerleaders. He enjoyed being Santa Claus in town parades and was an avid Boston Bruins fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Oscar. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial with military honors will be at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
