AUBURN – Ellen M. (Andersen) LaMura, 71, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus, after a long illness. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey B. LaMura and his wife Cheryl of Wake Forest, NC, and Scott W. LaMura of San Francisco, CA; two sisters, Judy A. Heist and her husband Richard of Dudley, and Beverly Burnham of Naples, FL; her grandson, Evan S. LaMura of Wake Forest, NC; her former husband, Nicholas “Ken” LaMura of The Villages, FL; and two nieces and a nephew, Robin, Tracy, and Dale. She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Wall who died in 1976. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late C. Willis and Helena B. (Angies) Andersen, and lived in Holden before moving to Auburn in 1991. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1964, received an associate’s degree from Anna Maria College, and received a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State College in 1980.
Mrs. LaMura was a medical technologist at UMass Memorial Medical Center (both the University and Memorial Campuses) for 30 years. Her passion was golfing and she played in various women’s leagues over the years. She was a founding member of Sterling Country Club in Sterling, and a member at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton and Highfields Country Club in Grafton. She was a member of the Auburn Elks, was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed vacationing in Wellfleet.
Memorial calling hours are Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the South Worcester Neighborhood Center, Attn: Ron Charette, 47 Camp St., Worcester, MA 01603, or to a charity of your choice.
