OXFORD - Elizabeth Hoving, a longtime resident of Oxford, died Sunday evening, a few days after suffering a stroke. She was 94. Her parents, Klaas de Weger and Antje Gorter, were residents of Friesland, the Netherlands, where she lived until age 37. In 1952, she emigrated to Canada and in 1959 to New England with her husband, Herman Hoving, and their children, Peter Hoving, Anneke Riemersma Bredo, and Frances Hoving. She is survived by their three children, four grandchildren (Helen, Karen, Marika, and Alisa), and four great grandchildren (Kate, Emily, Maxwell, and Delaney). Mrs. Hoving was a bookkeeper for seven years at R.E.N. Chevrolet in Whitinsville, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville. She was known for her beautiful handwork, including embroidery and crocheting, and especially enjoyed knitting hats for newborn babies. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at North Cemetery, Main St., Oxford.
