OXFORD – Elizabeth M. (Pitt) Carey, 92, formerly of Wheelock Street, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton. She is survived by two children, Linda L. Christy and her husband Michael of Oxford, and Harvey F. Joslin and his wife Colleen of Oxford; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three children, Dorothy L. Floria who died in 2016, Patricia A. Joslin who died in 2014, and William D. Joslin who died in 2012. She was born in Rindge, NH, daughter of the late David and Nellie (Roberts) Pitt, and lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 2001 and Charlton in 2008.
Mrs. Carey worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts – Department of Public Welfare for 13 years, retiring in 1989. She was a former member of the Nazarene Church in Worcester.
Memorial calling hours are Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. at the conclusion of the calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
