Edythe Chaffee

OXFORD - Edythe E. (Momeyer) Chaffee, 90, of Main St., died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert F. Chaffee of Oxford; three children, Elizabeth J. Chaffee of Yarmouthport, Mary C. Baskin of Little Rock, AR, and Susan R. Chaffee of Oxford; a sister, Esther F. Stimmel of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. She was born in Calumet, PA, the daughter of the late Frank H. and Ethel M. (Hailes) Momeyer, and lived in Pennsylvania before moving to Oxford in 1947. She graduated from German Township High School in Pennsylvania in 1936. Mrs. Chaffee owned and operated Chaffee's Appliance Store in Oxford with her husband for 24 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and organized fund-raisers for the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Chaffee was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending the winters in Cape Coral, FL, for over 20 years. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, June 22, 2009, from 10 a.m. - 12 noon at the Oxford United Methodist Church, prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Office of Development 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33136-1494. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
