WORCESTER – Edwin A. "Jumbo" Nelson, 77, of Danvers St., died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Lanessa Nursing Home, Webster. He is survived by a brother, John H. Nelson and his wife Jo Ann of Oxford; a sister-in-law, Helena Klisiewicz of Webster; and five nieces, Susan Morrisey and her husband Derek of Southbridge, Kristin Lyons and her husband Sean of Worcester, Roberta Klisiewicz of Merrimack, NH, Sandra Durand and her husband Michael of Woodstock, CT, and Patricia MacInnes and her husband Daniel of Worcester. He was predeceased by his step-mother, Elizabeth C. Nelson of Worcester, who died in 1994; and his step-brother, Robert Klisiewicz of Webster. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Edwin G. and Anna C. (Oman) Nelson, and was a lifelong resident of Worcester. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1949 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Nelson was a letter carrier for the Worcester Post Office for 25 years, retiring many years ago. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 279 in Auburn and was past Chef de Gare of Voiture 1113 of the 40/8 in Worcester. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 6, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester, MA 01607.
