OXFORD - Edward W. Ricketts, 90, of West St., died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in his home. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Barbara H. (Harrington) Ricketts of Oxford who died in 2005; and his daughter, Pamela D. Menard of Douglas who died in 1990. He is survived by two sons, David K. Ricketts of Wilmington, VT, and Jonathan E. Ricketts of Oxford; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Seymour I. and Hazel R. (Creighton) Ricketts. Mr. Ricketts graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and Worcester Junior College with a degree in electrical engineering. In addition, he attended classes at M.I.T. in Boston. He was a veteran of World War II with time spent as chief electrician aboard various ocean-going vessels. His career included working in many aspects of the electrical field. He belonged to many clubs and organizations throughout his life, and lived out his retirement quietly in Oxford. Mr. Ricketts was a longtime member of the Oxford Lodge of Masons, A.F. & A.M., where he served as Past Master in 1961 and 1981, and secretary for many years. Calling hours are Saturday, December 15, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
