OXFORD - Edward Prunier, 94, of Walnut Street, died Monday, December 7, 2009, in his home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith (Masterson) Prunier of Oxford; four children, Edward J. Prunier of Thompson, CT, James J. Prunier of North Grosvenordale, CT, Susan T. Prunier of West Hartford, CT, and Stephen J. Prunier of Lenox, MA; two brothers, Harris Prunier and Louis Prunier, both of Oxford; a sister, Agnes Bachand of Charlton; three grandsons, twins Harris and Hudson Prunier, and Holden Prunier; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Robert D. Prunier of Oxford who died in 1956; a brother, David Prunier; and two sisters, Angelina Prunier and Eva Prunier. He was born in Oxford, the son of the late David and Angelina (Mathurin) Prunier, and lived in Charlton before moving to Oxford in 1951. He graduated from Charlton High School, and was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Prunier was an appliance service repairman for Massachusetts Electric Co. for over 35 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and taught C.C.D. at the church. He was a member of the Cursillo Movement as well as a member of the Christian Family Movement at St. Roch's Church. Mr. Prunier was a member of Singletary Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford. He was active in the Boy Scouts when his sons were young, enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, and especially loved traveling with his beloved wife, Judy. A funeral will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 9, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
