Edward Dion

OXFORD - Edward P. Dion, 87, of Front Street, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, in his home. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Claire R. (Boulanger) Dion who died in 2008. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn L. Rocheleau of Oxford; two stepchildren, Norma J. Boudreau of Springfield and Francis G. Barnes of Cornwall, VT; two brothers, Jean Dion of Windsor Locks, CT, and William Dion of Hadley; a sister, Lena Lagerholm of Millbury; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, George Dion; three sisters, Marie Bowman, Rita Smith, and Mary Calnan; and a grandson, John Robert Boudreau. He was born in Lowell, the son of the late Alphee and Emma (Roy) Dion, and lived most of his life in Oxford. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Dion worked at R.H. White Construction Company in Auburn for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5663 in Oxford and a member of the Arbor Day Foundation. He loved tomato gardening. He was a sports fan, especially enjoying the Red Sox and Patriots, and he loved singing. He participated in the Accord Day Program in Webster. The family would like to thank Overlook Hospice in Charlton for their exceptional care during his illness. Calling hours are Friday, September 19, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the funeral home. Military burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Overlook Hospice, P.O.
