Edward Butler

April 16, 1957 — June 21, 2016

OXFORD – Edward L. Butler of Oxford, MA, 59, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in his home. He was predeceased by his mother, Constance (Poulin) Normandin and his stepfather, James Normandin, both of Southbridge, MA. He is survived by his father, Clarence D. Butler of Rhode Island; his brother, Mark Butler of Southbridge, MA; three sisters, Tracy Normandin-Clark and her husband William of Florida, Kari Butler of Rhode Island, and Kelly Normandin of Southbridge, MA; along with several nephews and nieces.

Mr. Butler worked at Westborough State Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 2010. After retirement, he worked at Walmart in Leicester and operated his own scrap metal business from his home. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and working in his yard, riding his motorcycle, and playing the lottery and keno. He enjoyed all animals and was especially fond of his dogs, Lou, Panda and Lexi. He will be remembered as someone who was very giving, loved to joke, told great stories, and always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face...even after losing his eye in a freak accident.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, June 27, 2016, from 5-9 p.m. at the American Legion, 227 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edward L. Butler, Memorial Fund, Southbridge Savings Bank, PO Box 370, 253-257 Main St, Southbridge, MA 01550. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
