OXFORD - Edward J. "Brownie" Brown, Jr., 84, of Wheelock Street, died with his children and grandchildren by his side on Friday, February 3, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Worcester. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn A. (Pepper) Brown of Oxford who died in 2006. He is survived by five children, Edward J. Brown III of Oxford, Kathleen M. Panu and her husband Gregory of Thompson, CT, Patricia A. Ray and her husband Geoffrey of Sagamore Beach, Robert K. Brown of Plymouth, and Richard M. Brown and his longtime friend Brenda Faulkner of Oxford; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces; and his dog, Sidney. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Edward J. and Mary (Quinn) Brown Sr., and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1956. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Brownie was a truck driver at Bayer and Mingolla Construction in Millbury for 26 years, retiring in 1971. Later, he owned cab 22 and was a former president of Arrow Cab Company in Worcester. He was a member of St. Roch's Church and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Brownie enjoyed going on vacations and travelling. He had a knack for making friends, loved to tell stories, and had many friends throughout the area. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 7, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
