Dorothy Masterson

OXFORD - Dorothy Madeline (O’Malley) Masterson, 93, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022.  She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Paul F. Masterson who died in 2012.  Born and raised in Clinton, she resided in Oxford for 50 years before retiring to Misquamicut, Rhode Island.

She leaves her children, Patricia Masterson of Newton, NH, P. Michael Masterson and his wife Suzanne of Newton, Karen Bazemore and her husband Mark of Wayland, and Kevin Masterson and his wife Kay of Berlin.  She is also survived by her sisters, Eunice Salmon and Ruth Baer of Clinton; many nieces and nephews; and grandchildren, Joshua, Faith, Kate, Conor, Adelaide, Claire, and Josie and her husband Jonas; and a great-grandson, Arlo.

Dorothy graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in Accounting, and later from Clark University where she received her M.B.A.  A licensed C.P.A., she was awarded professor emeritus from Quinsigamond Community College after twenty years, and she was granted the prestigious Professor of the Year award by her peers.

Outside of her professional life, Dorothy was an amazing mother to her four children who were only three-years apart in age (twins).  She supported her children and their friends in Oxford as a Cub Scout leader, a Campfire Girls leader, and a Lassie League coach.  She was also treasurer at the First Congregational Church, a member of the church’s Women’s Group, a Sunday School teacher, and a Docent at the Worcester Art Museum.

Memorial calling hours are Friday, January 14, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  A memorial service will be held on Friday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be held privately at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 355 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540, or to the Worcester Art Museum, 55 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
