CHARLTON - Dorothy J. (Cusson) Madaga, 74, of Hammond Hill Road, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She is survived by two children, Douglas P. Madaga and his wife Penny of Auburn, and Donna M. Andren of Niantic, CT; a brother, Edward Cusson of Holland; two sisters, Evelyn Freeland and her husband David of Zephyrhills, FL, and Alice Ziemski of Montville, CT; a grandson, Michael J. Andren and his wife Valerie of Woburn; and many nephews and nieces including her precious great niece, Abigail McDaniel. She was predeceased by a son, David E. Madaga of Topsham, ME, who died in 2008; four brothers, Saul Cusson, Laurence Cusson, Bernard Cusson, and Edmund Cusson; and two sisters, Gladys LaFreniece and Rose Saad. She was born in Webster, the daughter of the late Saul and Rose (Fontaine) Cusson, and lived in Oxford before moving to Charlton 20 years ago. Mrs. Madaga worked in the maintenance department at Thayer Pond in North Oxford for 11 years. Later, she worked at Walmart for 10 years. She was an avid swimmer, bird-watcher, and gardener, and she loved to go to the theater. The family would like to thank the great team at UMass Dialysis and Lakeside I.C.U., and especially thank Dr. Fan for his many years of help and Dr. Okike at UMass. Memorial calling hours are Friday, January 13, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A prayer service will conclude the calling hours at 8 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Renal Dialysis Unit, c/o UMass Medicine Development Office, 333 South St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
