OXFORD – Doris T. (Lambert) Garney, 96, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, George A. Garney who died in 1996. She is survived by five children, Donna N. Eyrich and her husband Gerald of Oxford, Steven A. Garney and his wife Linda of Jefferson, Gail A. Child and her husband Fred of Woodstock, CT, Joan M. Rodinov and her husband Michael of Dudley, and Brian J. Garney and his wife Jayne of Charlton; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Henry and Nora A. (Cashen) Lambert, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1949.
Mrs. Garney was a floor supervisor at Wiley Bickford Shoe Company many years ago, but spent most of her life caring for her home and family. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford, where she was a CCD Teacher and worked on the Bishop’s Fund for many years. She was generous throughout her life and raised money for many charities. Family meant everything to her and she will be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Friday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic TV, P.O. Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
