NORTH OXFORD – Donald R. Groleau, 85, of Southbridge Road, died Thursday, August 1, 2024, in his home after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Diana D. (Beaudette) Groleau of North Oxford; a daughter, Brenda L. Donnelly and her husband James of North Oxford; a sister, Gabe Sumner of Mooretown, VT; a brother, John Groleau of Moretown, VT; six grandchildren, Michael Desourdy, Daniel Faulkner, Jason Faulkner, Carrie Desourdy, Jessica Perley, and John Sutliff; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two daughters, Linda A. Sutliff and Barbara J. Desourdy; two sisters, Janet Clarke and Claire Gingell; and a brother, Roland O. Groleau Jr.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Roland O. and Beatrice J. (Boudreau) Groleau, and lived in Oxford for over 60 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Groleau was a machine operator at Wright Wire in Worcester for over 30 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed playing Bingo, hunting, fishing, and was a fan of the Boston sports teams. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the American Legion, 227 Main Street, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), Massachusetts Chapter, 85 East Concord St., Ground Floor, Boston, MA 02118.
