DENNISPORT – Donald L. Giroux, 95, of Uncle Rolf Road, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Barbara J. (Gray) Giroux of Dennisport who died in 2007. He is survived by three children, James L. Giroux and his wife Barbara of Glastonbury, CT, Thomas G. Giroux of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Carol R. Winslow of Oxford; four grandchildren, Matthew Giroux, Michelle Oster, Brett Russell, and Brandon Russell; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard G. Giroux and Edward M. Giroux. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Louis D. and Estelle (Charboneau) Giroux, and lived in Springfield before moving to Dennisport in 1981. He graduated from Technical High School in Springfield and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Giroux worked for AT&T/Verizon for over 30 years, retiring as western divisional manager in 1980. He loved fishing, golf, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
