AUBURN - Donald H. Dietlin Sr. passed away January 17, 2016, after a courageous battle with skin cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Carrie (Fields) and Joseph W. Dietlin.
He leaves behind his children, Donna Chaisson and her husband James of Charlton, Paula Normindin of Spencer, Patricia D’Agostino and her husband Michael of Charlton, Donald Dietlin Jr. and his wife Susan of Charlton, Charlene Anderson and her husband Robert of Auburn, and Joseph Dietlin of Auburn. He was predeceased by his wife Charlotte, daughter Kathleen, and son Baby Joseph. He leaves his grandchildren, Jonathan Adams, Charissa Kelly, Donald Dietlin III, Robert Anderson, Chelsea, Ryan and Bryan Dietlin; and his step-grandchildren, Christopher Jordan, Nicholas and Scott D’Agostino, Kelly Keiley. He also leaves his great grandchildren, Dylan, Celeste, and Scarlet Dietlin, Mila, Hayden, and Isaac Kelly, and Charlotte Adams. He also leaves his step great grandchildren, Lillyanna and Jared Jordan, and Estelle Keiley. He leaves his brother Geral Dietlin and many nieces and nephews. His brother Francis and sister Dorothy predeceased him.
Donald attended school in Providence, Rhode Island, and was a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He was a milkman for many years before retiring from Consolidated Beverages. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford.
Donald loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed senior bus trips along with trips to Foxwoods, Boothbay Maine, and Florida.
A funeral will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 652 Main Street, North Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, January 21, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
