OXFORD – David P. Skamarock, 67, of Mayfair Circle, died on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Martha C. (Dunkerton) Skamarock of Oxford; two children, Matthew D. Skamarock (Felicia) of Oxford, and Kristen A. Skamarock (Joshua) of Millbury; two sisters, Christine Gurriere and her husband Manny of Dudley, and Louise Skamarock of Oxford; his brother, William Skamarock and his wife Anne of Boulder, CO; one aunt, Rita Skamarock of Worcester; four grandchildren, Emillie Skamarock, Steven Rondeau, Lydia Skamarock, and Clara Skamarock; and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Anthony and Anne Marie (St. Onge) Skamarock, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1973. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Military Police in Korea.
Mr. Skamarock worked at Clariant Corporation in Holden for 6 years, retiring in 2009. Previously he worked at Montrose CDT in Auburn for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, riding his bike, and working in his yard. He loved vacationing throughout New England, especially in Maine and New Hampshire.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 51 Blossom St. Boston, MA 02114.
