CHARLTON – David J. Pikul, 72, of Carpenter Hill Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in his home. He is survived by his sister, Susan L. LeBlanc and her husband Norman of Oxford; his niece, Emmy Monticelli and her husband Michael of Oxford; his great nephew and niece, Matthew J. Monticelli and Gianna J.M. Monticelli, both of Oxford; and his close friend, Jacqueline S. Harris of Charlton. He was born in Webster, son of the late Joseph S. and June I. (White) Pikul Jr., and lived in Oxford before moving to Charlton 50 years ago. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1969 and attended Holy Cross College in Worcester.
Mr. Pikul was the co-owner of Charlton Furniture in Charlton with his sister, which they operated for 50 years. He loved the store and enjoyed interacting with their many customers over the years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Charlton. Mr. Pikul was a sports fan and enjoyed going to concerts, spending time outside on his tractor, and loved cars. He had a great sense of humor and was a gentle soul. He was a very generous man and loved his family above all else. He had a photographic memory and remembered details about everyone he met. He will be remembered for his quick wit, charismatic personality, and generosity.
The family would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Buchbinder and her team for the exceptional care given to David.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at West Ridge Cemetery in Charlton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284, or to St. Joseph’s Church, P.O. Box 338, Charlton City, MA 01508.
