SUTTON - David E. Murtagh, 53, formerly of Framingham, died peacefully at home in the presence of family and close friends on Monday, December 29, 2008. He had been living at his devoted twin brother's home for the past year of his 2 ½ year battle with cancer. Dave worked in business and was a professional musician. He was a talented drummer who especially enjoyed playing jazz. Family and friends will remember him for his enthusiasm for, and skill in, cooking. He was born in Framingham on February 17, 1955, the son of the late George and Rose (Marino) Murtagh. He is survived by five children, Lisa Yanez and her husband Danny, Meredith Connery and her husband Pete, and Paul Murtagh, all of Framingham; Catherine Murtagh and Henrietta Murtagh of Northbridge; and two grandchildren, Maya and Christiano Yanez. In addition, he leaves his twin brother, Daniel, and his wife Susan of Sutton, another brother, James, and his wife Linda of Holliston, and a sister, Helen Sheehy and her husband James of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. The family requests expressions of sympathy in David's honor be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115. Paradis Funeral Home, Oxford, is in care of the arrangements.
