MILLBURY - David O. Gemme, 65, of Worcester Providence Turnpike, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 17, years, Rose E. (Legere) Gemme of Millbury; six children, Wayne E. Johnson and his wife Michele of Dudley, Patricia R. Cline and her husband Michael of Burlington, IA, Lana E. Hudon and her husband Ronald of Oxford, April V. Mattson of Burlington, IA, Rachel E. Danelius and her husband John of Sutton, and John D. Gemme and his wife Tammy of Burlington, IA; two brothers, Paul Gemme of North Carolina and Carl Gemme of Millbury; three sisters, Cora Reardon of Massachusetts, Louise Johnson of Webster, and Phyllis Sharon of Florida; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Roland and Rita (Gendron) Gemme, and lived most of his life in Millbury. Mr. Gemme was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a construction worker at Ryan Company for over 10 years, retiring in 2010 due to illness. Mr. and Mrs. Gemme enjoyed participating in horse shows with their miniature horses. A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Family and friends are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private at a later date. Calling hour will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospital, c/o the Pulmonary Care Unit, 123 Summer St., Worcester, MA 01608. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
