David Chaffee

WEBSTER - David M. Chaffee, 91, of Bates Point Road, died peacefully Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife 50 years, Hope N. (Gibson) Chaffee of Webster, who died in 1995. He is survived by two daughters, Linda C. McKee and her husband Mel of Ashland, and Judith C. Jordan and her husband Mark of Auburn; two brothers, Alfred L. Chaffee of Seattle, WA, and Donald Chaffee of California; seven grandchildren, Stacy Brinegar and her husband John, Carolynn Jordan, Anthony Jordon and his wife Lindsay, Michael Chaffee, Jeffrey McKee, David Chaffee, and Erik Jordan; three great grandchildren, Kyle and Wesley Brinegar, and Dylan Eldridge; and his longtime friend, Ruth DeFoe. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen D. Chaffee who died in 2008; and two brothers, Gordon and Robert Chaffee. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Leslie J. and Hazel G. (Foster) Chaffee, was raised in Oxford, and lived in Webster for the last 28 years. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1941 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Chaffee worked for W.M. Simpson Company in Cambridge for 26 years, retiring in 1988. Previously, he worked for Chaffee Brothers in Oxford. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, September 12, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
