OXFORD – Dale J. Mahota, 69, of Old Southbridge Road, died peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, surrounded by his family. He is survived by four children, Jessica A. Mahota and her fiancé David Fiorentino of Dudley, Rebecca A. Chamberlain and her husband Timothy of Oxford, Jarred J. Mahota of Oxford, and Stephanie A. Mahota of Dudley; his former wife, Colleen A. (Robert) Mahota; his brother, Warren H. Mahota Jr. and his wife Karen of Oxford; his sister, Lisa M. Pellerin and her husband Richard of Oxford; four grandchildren, Audri Chalifoux, Arianna Chamberlain, Nicholas Chamberlain, and David Fiorentino; and seven nieces and nephews, Meghan, Michael, Marrissa, Matthew, Jenna, Jordann, and Ashley.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Warren H. and Shirley A. (Bugbee) Mahota Sr., and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1973. He played on the Oxford High School football team. He was a Junior Cadet and a member of the honor guard.
Mr. Mahota was a police officer for the Oxford Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1998. In addition, he owned and operated Mahota Equipment Corp. in Oxford for many years. He was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford, and was a former Eucharistic minister at the church. He was a member of the Oxford Housing Authority and a former member of the Oxford Planning Board.
Mr. Mahota was a member of the 200 Sportsmen Club in Webster. He enjoyed working on model trains, riding his Harley with his brother Warren, camping, hunting, and spending time with his dogs. He looked forward to the Fryeburg Fair every year with his family and enjoyed camping at Bailey’s Campground and Nauset Beach. Family meant everything to him. He traveled with his motor home to his daughter’s softball tournaments, watched his son play high school football, and watched his daughter play basketball. He looked forward to coffee with his brother Warren, and loved taking his son Jarred to work when he was young.
A funeral will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
