NORTH OXFORD – Cynthia L. (Kiwak) Bathgate of Thayer Pond Drive, died Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester, at the age of 76. She is survived by her son, Jason F. Bathgate of Stafford Springs, CT; her daughter-in-law Kristi Bathgate of Suffield, CT; her grandson, Quinn M. Bathgate of Suffield, CT; her brother, David A. Kiwak and his wife Carol of Wells, ME; many cousins, including Candy (Bell) Eames and Jane (Austin) Redmond; and two nephews. In addition, Ms. Bathgate leaves behind her best companion Ivan, her beloved Dachshund. She was born in Webster, daughter of the late Joseph L. and Constance V. (Bell) Kiwak.
Ms. Bathgate graduated from Oxford High School in 1965. Living most of her life in Oxford, she loved autumn at the pond and Oxford’s colonial history. She earned her M.B.A. from Nichols College in Dudley. As a certified accountant, Ms. Bathgate worked for Worcester Community Action Council. She was also a C.P.A. at Shepherd and Goldstein in Worcester, worked in the financial office at Job Corps in Grafton, and was the office manager for Schmidt Equipment in North Oxford.
Faith was important to Ms. Bathgate. She was a long-standing member of the Oxford United Methodist Church in Oxford and served on various church committees. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Clara Barton Chapter in Oxford, noted for their fellowship and charity work. An advocate for community service, Ms. Bathgate was a member of the Board of Directors for Why Me in Worcester, an organization to help families cope with childhood cancer, and former chairwoman of the Finance Committee in Oxford. She volunteered for Tri-Valley Elder Services, and was a member of the Red Hat Society in Auburn. Her hobbies included knitting, quilting, caring for Ivan and serving her community.
Memorial calling hours are Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford.
