OXFORD - Claudia A. (Scaldini) Guntor, 88, died August 4, 2011, at the Overlook Masonic Home in Charlton, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Joseph P. Guntor who died in 2009; her brothers, John, Michael, Louis, and Mill Scaldini; and her sisters, Elizabeth Bertoletti, Julia Falcone DeFaria, and Gloria Johnson. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Cheryl Lotti and her husband Dennis of Oxford; two grandsons, Jason V. Lotti of Oxford and Jonathan J. Lotti and his wife Jodie of Auburn; two great grandsons, Evan J. Lotti and Brandon A. Lotti, both of Auburn; her sister, Ernestine Triplett of Florida; and several nephews and nieces. Claudia was born in Mansfield, the daughter of the late John and Camille (DeDonno) Scaldini. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1941. After high school, she moved to Buzzards Bay and built ships during World War II, and there she met her husband. They lived in Buzzards Bay and later moved to Leicester, and finally settled in Oxford where she lived for the rest of her life. Claudia was an accomplished seamstress after attending Girls Trade School in Worcester, and was most famous for her beautiful doll clothes that she created herself. During her life, she held several jobs before becoming the bookkeeper for the Oxford Public Library, where she worked for 32 years retiring at age 80. After retirement, she served as a volunteer for several years. She was a member of St. Roch's Church, the Friends of the Oxford Library, and some time ago was a Camp Fire Girl Leader. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she took such great pleasure in her two great-grandsons to whom she was known as "Nanny." Claudia lived life on her own terms and fought many battles along the way, right up to the last moment of her life. She will be in our hearts forever and will be sadly missed by all who loved her. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the "angels" from the Overlook Hospice and Visiting Nurse Association, and all of the other "angels" at the Overlook Hospice Home in Charlton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Claudia's name to the Overlook Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, P.O. Box 1000, Charlton, MA 01507. Paradis Funeral Home, Oxford, is assisting with the arrangements.
