OXFORD – Clarence R. McCarthy, 90, formerly of Linden Street, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the home of his daughter. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Shirley H. (Perra) McCarthy of Oxford, who died in 1995. He is survived by two children, Robert R. McCarthy and his partner Tony Feliciano, and Paula M. Gaulin and her spouse David Morrell, who was also his caretaker; two grandsons, Paul Gaulin and his fiancée Nicole Courchaine, and Patrick Gaulin and his wife Heather; four great-grandchildren, Corey, Aurora, Quin, and Fiona; his brother-in-law, Ernest Gregoire; and his longtime companion, Phyllis Collins. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Herbert McCarthy and Simone (Moge) Jordan, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He graduated from Oxford High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. McCarthy was an auto mechanic throughout his life. He retired from Bayer Motors in Dudley in 1995, where he was the manager of the parts department. He was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford and supported many organizations.
The family would like to thank the visiting nurses and home health aides for their exceptional care and compassion.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. A memorial calling hour will be held on Thursday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Mass. Hospice, 191 Pakachoag St., Auburn, MA 01501, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
